December, 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas, all the kids were home~!

All the shopping is finished, the house is decorated and we are waiting on the big day!

December has been a busy month, watching Charlie grow is a joy.  He is now going on 4 months old!  What a delightful child he is!!!

I would like to thank Hager Tree Farm for making my beautiful wreath for my front door!  I just chuckle every time I walk on our porch!

I just received our pictures for the Illinois Paint Horse Futurity.  A little late, but they are here!  I am so proud of these "homegrown" mares!  Both are HYPP/NN, both are double registered with AQHA and APHA and both are out of our mare and our stallions!!!

Gearing up for Christmas!  The tree is up, all the packages are wrapped, the Christmas cards are all sent and I am just waiting to have my family all with me!  Josh, Matt and Erin will all be home for Christmas!  I took a couple of pictures of our tree and of the stockings.  The pictures above our mantel were taken when each of our children were three years old.

So many wonderful memories of Christmas morning, the children waking us up before dawn and hurrying down the stairs to see what Santa had left them!  Watching their eyes as they opened their gifts, then preparing a big Christmas dinner,  and waiting on everyone to come over for our big Christmas feast!  My mom is such a sweet, kind hearted lady, she would always find someone who had no one for Christmas and invite them over to our house.  I always knew to set more places and have lots of extra food.  Sometimes we had to add tables to the living room to make room for everyone!  It was always such a wonderful time!

We've had two litters of Siberian Husky puppies this month.  After a  year off, it is so wonderful to hold the little ones and love on them!  We purchased a new male, Thor, as we call him, did his job well~!

On the 14th, we had our first big snow!  7 inches and it was light, fluffy and beautiful~!  I took these pictures early morning as the snow was falling!

December 27, Christmas is over...It was wonderful having our son Josh, our daughter Erin, my mom and Jack, and my dad all here for Christmas.

I will be gearing up for breeding season, it is just around the corner.  January is "clean the stallion's out" month, LOL!  Our breeding room is full now, we have 3 litters of husky puppies, all born a week apart!  21 gorgeous bubbles of love!!  I am so glad we have a huge stall in that room~the horses aren't bothered by the dogs, so that is always good.  It's just part of their life!  This will be the first year, Hez N Command will be open to the public.  Excited to see the three babies he has coming this spring!!!

October, November, 2013

We had a very mild, pretty fall season, but winter is fast approaching us!  My mom and Jack came to visit us from Florida and it was great!  You can never see too much of your mom~!

Charlie, our first grandchild is growing by leaps and bounds.  It doesn't seem possible that is already 2 months old!  I don't get to see him enough, as the kids live in St. Louis, MO....but when I can get away, you may see me on the interstate heading south!

We finally got Exceptional Detail, "Gerdy's" AQHA statue for her first time being Grand Champion Mare!  This is my first ever from AQHA, as I have always shown in paints!  Thank you to our trainer, Jeff Ison, for doing such a great job showing Gerdy this summer and fall~!

Josh, our first born son, is doing great!  He and his girlfriend, Amanda are living in Chattanooga, TN.  They purchased an older house and have been fixing it up!  Josh and Amanda came over to see Charlie for the first time and we met them at a climbing gym in St. Louis.  Had a great time watching them do things we could never do, LOL!!!

We have pretty much loaded all the winter alfalfa/hay in the barn!  We have some great stuff this year and the horses love it!  It makes a girl feel good when she knows the barn is full of hay and shavings for her horses!

If you are ever board, I have lots of pictures on my Facebook page!  FACEBOOK  Loads of pictures of the horses and of Charlie!  Getting ready for Thanksgiving....have so many things to be thankful for this year.  I am really thankful I came through my accident and am here today.  Too close of call for me!  I am thankful for ALL my wonderful family, my new grandson, my horses and dogs and just being blessed so many times over!!

What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had.  I think it makes it special when there is a child!  My mom and Jack surprised us by showing up on our doorstep the day before Thanksgiving.  I had no idea they were coming and it was the best surprise ever!!!  We had a full house, and the only child missing was Joshua.  He lives in TN and it is a long drive for one day...but he will be here for Christmas!!!!!  Below is our darling Thanksgiving Charlie Turkey!!!

With the use of Facebook, I take the time to write there and not on the site!  So here goes...

I got all the foals registered! Each of the foals are AQHA/APHA registered an in the Incentive Fund and Breeder's Trust.  I decided to have fun with the names this year!  Elroy is sold and going to his new home in Kansas with Deb and Steve!  Looking forward to watching him show and win!  Rose is in Indiana, Ivy is in training with Jeff Ison and I'm keeping Lola here as my play toy, LOL!  I can't have all of them leaving at once!  You can see more pictures of the babies on our Baby Page!

Mark and I flew to Florida for my Mom's Birthday!  As always, it is wonderful to see my family all together!  My mom is the perfect host and I could stay there forever!  Mark and Jack play golf everyday and mom and I shop!  She took me to the mall in Boca and I now confess that that is my "favorite" mall~!  I bought my Tous purse there and had a great time looking at all the yummy stores!!!  The food in Florida has to be the best around!  I love fish and that is the state to be for fresh fish!

My sister, Chris and her husband Jon, just finished building a new home at Sewell's Point.  It over looks the river and is beautiful!!  Here is a picture of the back of the house that overlooks the river!  We watched the July 4th fireworks from the end of their dock and could see all the fireworks in Martin county!

Shesa Packin, "Roxie," finally arrived!  Roxie is out of the great quarter mare, Touch Me Kiss Me by Touchdown Kid.  Her sire is The Package x At Long Last.  She is from Donna Davis and is in foal to Fearles for a March 2014 foal! Roxie is such a sweet mare and I am looking forward to having my foals with her!

I have purchased three of Donna's great mares now and am so excited to see what the future brings with these young mares!  The yearling I purchased from her is Everybody Lovs Candy.  "Candy" is out of Exceptional Candy, who was raised by Carri Jones, then went on to Sandy Ellis'.  Her sire is the great  stallion, My Intention.  Phancy Phace is a 3 YO out of Donna's great McSkip Me Mare and The Exceptional One.

The birth of our first grandchild is getting closer!!!  Baby Charlie will be here the middle of September!  Amazing what they can do now.  You get to see your baby in the womb!!! Time seems to be going so slow, I can't wait to kiss his sweet little head and smell the wonderful smell of a baby!

Mark, Erin and I went to the St. Louis Cardinal game and had a blast!!!  The weather was fantastic, the food in the suite was the best baseball food I've ever had and the Cardinals won the game!

As always, when Matt plays in Decatur, we are his loyal groupies, LOL!  Erin is supporting her new hat at Donnie's and loving it, LOL!  John and Nick Livasy are egging her on...way to go nephews!

I'm looking forward to the futurities coming up.  Jeff Ison has Ivy and Gerdy.  Gerdy has been going First with all Grand Championships since he has been showing her!  We have the Illinois Paint Horse Futurity, the Michigan Quarter Horse Futurity and the Illinois Quarter Futurity coming up in September.

ICE is settled in his new Australia home and Done N Dusted Quarter Horses love him!  It is such a great feeling to ship a horse so far away and he looks absolutely wonderful when they receive him!  I am excited to see how his future progresses in the Down Under!!  Heather keeps me informed on how he is doing and sends plenty of pictures!!!

Mark and I celebrated 37 years of marriage on August 19~!  It just doesn't seem possible that that many years has flown by.  We have so much we have accomplished, 3 of which are our children, Josh, Matt and Erin!  Thank you my sweet husband for all the love, support and wild times we have shared!!!  I am hoping for another 50!!!!

March, April and May, 2013

My time seems to have a way of getting away from me.  It's been a crazy spring!  I haven't gotten as much done as I would have liked.  I had an accident that put me up for almost a month.  Thank goodness for my vet, my husband and my stall boy.  They took over the farm and breeding responsibilities!  I owe them so much.  I wanted a vacation, but not quite like that ~ LOL!

We added a new stallion to our farm, Hez N Command,  "Ozzie" is an AQHA Select World Champion and a Reserve Congress Champion~!  A big thank you to Jim and Laura Pyatt for giving us this great opportunity to own such a great stallion!  Also, a big thank you to Lea Ann Koch and Bob Lee for taking Ozzie to his
Select World Championship and Reserve Congress Championship~!

We will open Ozzie to a select number of good mares in 2014.  He stands 16-3 as a 3 year old and is sweet and gentle!

March brought 2 new foals to us.  Pebbles had a GORGEOUS black overo filly!  Ivy -- Dancing in the Night - AQHA/APHA. Lilly, Obviously At Last had a huge DR chestnut colt on March 18.  Barn name: Elroy.  Both of these foals were sired by DC Legacy!  All four of these babies are double registered AQHA and APHA!

We found out this month that Mark and I will be grandparents!  Our first time!  Matt and his beautiful wife are expecting a little boy around September 22, 2013.  I have had a blast buying boy things!  They make such cute things for babies now.  When the kids came over, I took them out to the breeding room to use the ultrasound ~ they watched their son for a long time.  It was magical to see him move around in there!

ICE was sold to Done N Dusted Quarter Horses in Australia~!  I am excited to see one of mine in the down under!  I think he is the kind of stallion that will put her on the map!!!  It is also nice that I have a new friend in another country!  I will miss his sweet face and him hollering to me...but I know he is going to a great home!!

February 2013

The start of breeding season!  All stallions are ready to go!

I don't have any foals coming until March and April, and I can't wait!!!  The mares are huge.  All are bred to DC Legacy, as I wanted to see what he would throw with the different bloodlines.

Michele Tucker of Michele Tucker show horses sent me a picture of DC Precision's son, "Precisely Made."  His new owner is riding him in APHA and AQHA shows and winning big!!!  A halter horse that rides!!!

Carri Wilborn is getting "Jest Lookin" ready for the 2013 show season!  He looks gorgeous and she hasn't even started fitting on him.  He is out of our broodmare, SSF Thisgirlscool and Exceptional Look.  Looking forward to watching him win!!

Photo: For those of you who have messaged me regarding the 2012 colt Jest Lookin sired by Exceptional Look. Will be 10 months old on the 6th. Pictured at 9 months old.

We also purchased a new Siberian Husky male.  Tux is getting up there in years, so I search and search for a guy to replace him.  I finally found him!!  He is only 4 weeks old now, so it will be awhile before he will come to live with us!  He won't be a stud dog until he is 3 or over.  I like to wait and let them mature and be a dog before they are allowed to breed.  This little guy has 2 blue eyes and a pedigree to die for!  So excited to get him!  I showed his picture to the "girls," and they licked the picture...so I think that means they love him, LOL!!!

Xena should be having puppies the end of March.  I only breed the females once a year, so this summer should be the summer of puppies!!

As I sit here typing, my 2 wonderful Maltese are laying in their heated bed.  Martini and Rosse and my little sweethearts!  They are always 2 steps away from me!  Talk about loveable dogs!!  I got both my dogs from Shasta Grimes of Desert Hobby Ranch.  He dogs have the best personalities!

I finally had some time to go outside and take pictures of the mares and growing babies!  I bred all the mares to DC Legacy.  I wanted to see what he would throw with different breedings.  The first baby is due the first week of March out of Pebbles.  The other babies are due 1 each, every week of April!

I've been busy collecting the boys this month!  They all are such good boys, that it is a joy to be around them!  I am so blessed with my animals...not many people get to live their dream.....my husband loves me enough to let me live mine!

January 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  This year brings a wonderful breeding season!  Standing 4 stallions, DC Legacy, Jamaican Hottie, Exceptional Look and ICE!  We've cleaned out all the boy's pipes and everything looks great!!!

We had a wonderful trip to Florida!  Mark, I, Erin and Jake flew down to visit my mom and sisters and their wonderful families!  We had a great time.   The beach, shopping, eating...it was all perfect!!!  I went to the beach with Erin and Jake, collected sea shells, (as we Snow Birds often do) and just closed my eyes to the sun and let it warm me!

I also purchased a new mare, 2010 AQHA Phancy Phace.  "Phancy" comes from the great breeding program of Donna Davis Quarter Horses. Her sire is the Exceptional One and her dam is Donna's great mare, McSkip Me.  She has 37 AQHA Halter Points, 14 Grands and 14 Reserve Grand Championships, 2010 AQHA World Show Top Five, 2011 AQHA World Show Top Ten, 2012 Qualified for AQHA World Show.  Excited to see her mature and grow!!
