December 2008

It's been a wonderful holiday season.  Not much going on at the home front, but still the hustle and bustle of Christmas!  We've had such bad weather, that the horses can't get out as much as they did in the summer.  Ice has been a constant here.  To keep my four legged friends happy, I take them out of the stall, rub them down and massage their bodies.  I know they love it, as the lip goes up and the neck stretches out!

I got a call from my new friend Dick Donnelly.  He asked me if I wanted to be on the publicity committee for the WCHA.  I will work with Clark Rassi promoting the WCHA and getting the good word out about them.  It's a wonderful organization, one that is looking at the overall confirmation of the stock horse and not who is leading the horse in.  Anyone interested in joining can do so!  The people in the organization are wonderful to work with!  Click here to go to their website!

The weanlings are growing up so fast.  I wish I could take pictures, but our weather here is so nasty, that I don't want to take a chance of them slipping on the ice.  I am really pleased the way Sparked With Precision is maturing.  My goodness, he reminds me so much of DC.  The way his eyes, "think" when I say something to him.  His brother, Beyond Precision is growing like a weed also.  He is one of those stallions that get better with age!  Exceptional Look...well there is nothing to fault that boy on.  Every time I look at him he is bigger and better.

My daughter wrote me a letter that told about her experience with me as a mom and having horses.  She wanted to give it to me for Christmas, but was afraid I would cry...so she gave it to me tonight.  She was right, I cried like a baby.  How wonderful I feel that my daughter thinks of me as her best friend.  I always knew she was mine.  How blessed I am....over and over again.  She and I will show against each other this next show season in 2 year old stallions.  I told her she could show either one, but they are both so nice that she hasn't made her decision yet.  Erin is much better at showing than I will ever be.  It just comes natural to her.  I like sitting on the sidelines and getting the horse ready for her!

I want to wish all my old friends and new friends a wonderful holiday season.  May you all be blessed with good health, love and lots of horses!!!  May your "New Year" bring you happiness and well wishes!

November 2008

It's been a hard month to get over the loss of my wonderful stallion, DC Precision....but each day gets easier.  So many wonderful people letting me know how sorry they are or just letting me know they were thinking of me.  Life does go on and I am so thankful I have two wonderful son's of DC.

We drove to the APHA Fall World Champion Show with our weanling, Sparked By Precision.  He was such a trooper, looked totally awesome.  The morning after we got there, Sparky spiked a temp of 104.  He wouldn't eat or drink.  Took him to the vet on the grounds and he had a virus that was going around.  He had fluids and was put on Nexel for 5 days.  I couldn't show him in Amateur, but was hoping he would be okay for Open.  He kept his temp for 3 days and lost a whopping 72 pounds.  The day that Open was to show, he had a normal temp., but I didn't want to stress him by showing him, so decided not to.  With all that had happened this summer, this was another kick in the fanny.

The good note to all of this was that Tom and Christel Woiderski's DC solid weanling filly, won the solid paint world show.  How the tears fell on that one.  Christel asked me to be in the win picture and more tears flowed.  What a tribute to DC!!!  I can't thank them enough for keeping DC's memory alive with his offspring.  Tom and Christel are such wonderful people!!

We had such a good time in Ft. Worth.  We met Drew Kooiker and his wonderful parents, Joyce and Nick.  Tom, Christel, Nick, Joyce, Drew, us and my wonderful friend, Ray Rameriz went to a wonderful place for dinner.  Joe T. Garcia's at the Stockyards.  Wow, what a place!!  A full block of outside tables, so beautiful!!  I can't tell you what a great time we had.  I really enjoy that group!

I have been looking for another stallion to add to our breeding program.  I will never replace DC, but wanted to find a stallion that would measure up to him.  I was talking to Clint Fullerton and asked him if he knew of a DR colt.  He had a yearling there and showed it to us.  Oh my gosh...it was hard keeping my mouth from opening wide at the site of him.  I know his sire, Kidlook, because DC stood down at Allen Quarter Horses last year.  Kid is one exceptional stallion.  Clint put me in touch with Dick and Debbie Donnelly who owns Kidlook and this colt.  Mark and I had lunch with them that day.  These two people are the nicest people I have met!!!  We started lunch as strangers and ended lunch as friends.  Dick and Debbie have been long time legends in the quarter horse world and to be able to be with them, was magical.  They know all the greats and have showed and won against them.  To be part of their "family" now means so much to me.  I will make them proud of Exception Look!!!

Here is Exceptional Look out of Kidlook x Kid Clu and out of a mare Carri Jones owned by the great stallion, Azzari.  As a yearling "Kid" is awesome....getting better as he ages.  He is double registered, with a pedigree to die for.  All quarter horses, and his mother is a crop out with both papers.  "Kid" has a heart of gold and we looking forward to next year with Clint.  Clint has agreed to take on my two DC colts and Kid to the World next year to WIN!!!!

I've been working on my websites, updating and getting everyone's information on.  I feel like there is a light at the end of my tunnel.  So much excitement is coming for the future.  We are standing Absolute Precision and Rapped With Precision.  Two awesome stallions that are carrying on DC Precision's legacy.  Take a look at our stallion's page to see these two colts.

October 2008
October started normal, but within a little more than a week into the month devastation hit our hearts.  On October 8, DC Precision passed away.  He was at the trainers for them to work him under saddle more.  I'm a trail rider and I don't know all the cues for riding.  DC had been there a week and on the evening before he died, Tim and he had a great trail ride in the late afternoon.  DC got to see his first buffalo and enjoy the cool breeze as he made his way

through all the beautiful green grounds, with all the flowers blooming, fresh leaves on the ground and the quiet lake, making it a storybook ride.

We got a call from Tim around 5:00 a.m. telling us they found DC dead in his stall.  I was in shock, I couldn't believe it.  Mark and I drove down to southern Illinois to pick up DC to take him to the University of IL to have a necropsy.  Bob and Tim were so gentle to load DC on the flatbed.  As we were driving back, the tears wouldn't stop.  All I could think of was this is not how I wanted to bring DC back home.

We should find out sometime on Monday the autopsy report.  The one bright light in this holocaust, is his son, Sparked by Precision.  God must have known something was ahead of us and blessed me with a colt who in body and face...is so much like his father.  The same eyes that look at me are those of his father's.  Sparky knew there was something wrong when we got home.  He cradled his little head on my shoulder and just stood there while I cried and hugged him.

I will start from scratch with this wonderful young colt and help him to follow in his father's shoes.  Just as DC Precision made his way to the top, so shall his son.  The World Show means even more to me now.  I'm not doing it for myself, I'm doing it in the memory of my big guy, DC Precision.

I feel so blessed that God chose me to look after his horse, DC.  I was chosen for a big job and did the best I could.  Up in heaven, God has such a nice stallion to ride and it gives me comfort to know he is in greener pastures.  I love you DC...thank you for all the wonderful things you gave to me while I was your mom......

September 2008
September was one of those months that flew by.  Sparky was in the IL futurity and got a reserve in the IBOS.  He needed more weight, but my gosh he looked good!  Sometimes it is so hard to get these babies to eat.  He's been eating good now, so on to the APHA World Show.  Thank you to my friend, Rick McLain for doing such a good job showing him!

Jamaican Eclipse had his first Illinois Quarter Horse Futurity.  He took a Reserve Championship in the Open Late Weanling Futurity class.  Kent Allen did a great job of showing him!

Just working the babies this month.  Enjoying the cooler weather!

August 2008
Our weather in August has been absolutely wonderful!!!!  I've been working Sparky to get him ready for the futurities and the November APHA World Show.  This colt is so nice and is a dream to work with.  I plan on keeping him as a breeding stallion.  He is exactly like his sire!!!  Look at this guy...WOW!

Mark and I celebrated 30 years of marriage on the 19th.  Time seems to have flown by.  I couldn't ask for a better husband and best friend.  I pray I will have 30 more years with him!!!

Have buyers for our other babies, it's sad to see them go...but I know they are going to good show homes.  The best part of this entire business is having the foals!

My web site design is keeping me busy.  I love to do the sites.  I meet wonderful people and get to use my creative side of my brain!

My sister was married on August 8 in Florida.  Her new husband Jon is such a sweetheart!  Here is a picture of the my mom, my 2 sisters and myself.  The picture below is of the beautiful bride and her handsome husband on the deck of the yacht we were on.  What a vessel!  Three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a galley, 2 decks and air conditioning!  I think I could like that! LOL!!!  They were going to get married on a sandbar, the one they love to go to.  We loaded all family and friends in boats and made our way out.  As you can see in the below picture, the happy couple decided the weather had got too bad and that the better place to get married was on land!  All turned out wonderful and we had a great time!

Kent and Dawn Allen of Allen Quarter Horses took my 2 year old mare to the IBHA World Show.  I was in Florida during the show, so I didn't get to go.  Pebbles won the IBHA World Title!!  How very exciting!!!  I will post her win picture and soon as I get it.  I can't wait to see her foal out of DC.  All I can say, is watch out show world...here we come!!!

I am so proud of DC...he was Wisconsin High SSA Stallion, his get winning the most at the futurity!!!  I received such a nice plaque for him!  Thank you to all the DC baby owners who made this possible!!

DC's offspring have done very well at the futurities and I am so excited to see this happening!  He is truly a great sire!!!

I have started riding DC under saddle.  I thought it was time he had a job.  To my surprise, he has done wonderful and seems to enjoy our daily rides.  I'm not the best rider, so he is the one teaching me. It's a long way to the ground from way up there!

My boy is taking care of me!!!

July 2008
What a month it's turned out to be!  We had my mom's 70th birthday party here...tent and all!!  Here is a picture of our oldest son, Josh dancing with my mom.  I hope I can be half the woman she is at 70!!! All my family was here and it was so wonderful!!  It was sad to see everyone leave, so quiet now!

Jamaican Eclipse, Justa Impressive and Sparked by Precision.
All the babies are weaned and doing great.  The moms also seem to be taking it okay.  I'm looking forward to taking Sparked with Precision to the November World Show!!  He is looking "really" good!! But, they all look good to me!!!  I haven't started fitting on him yet, just letting him enjoy being a horse and having fun with the "guys."  Will get him going in a couple of weeks.

Had a great World Show!  DL Mister Precision ended up with 2 World Championships!!!  Congratulations to Kathy Owens!!!  DL Star Precision received a 4th in Open 2 year old Geldings.  Congratulations to Bev and Bruce Baker!  Both of these horses were born here!!!!!

We have several babies going to the fall show this year.  I'm taking Sparked with Precision, weanling colt and our "partnership" colt, DL Beyond Precision, yearling stallions (Tom and Christel Woiderski and I own him.)  Jodi Finkenbinder is showing both colts.  Sonia Trevino is taking her weanling colt, and Kim Vial is also taking her weanling filly.  What an exciting time!!!

June 2008
No one can complain about not having enough rain this year!  This is what one of our pastures looked like after 5 inches of rain in 3 hours!  On the positive side, it was nice to have a pond on our property!

I made a trip to Lexington, KY this week to visit some friends.  I got to see Kari Sipes and visit with her for a while.  She is such a sweetheart and I can't believe the work this girl does.  I wish I had half of her energy.  Caribbean Kid is gorgeous!  I don't think his pictures do him justice!  Also got to see Eric Creeley again.  What a nice young man he is.  Kari and he work hard together!

I'm now getting ready to throw my mom her 70th birthday party.  It should be fun!!!  The best part is seeing her again.  She lives in Florida and I'm up here in IL.  Way to far apart.

I also want to send my prayers to Kellie of Nihiser Farms.  Her mom, her best friend passed away.  Nancy was a wonderful person and anyone who had the chance to meet her, loved her.  She always made you feel welcome and always had a smile on her face.  She will be greatly missed!

May 2008

May is getting warmer, but we still have our cold spells.  All the husky pups have gone home, it's so quiet around here.  The last pup to go was a female from Mattie and Link.  She and Martini played so well together.  I think Martini misses her!  Watching them play always made me chuckle!

The babies this year are so wonderful!  To watch them grow and play is what this business is all about!  I'm enjoying watching Hottie's son change into a beautiful gold buckskin.  I've never had a horse of this color and he is magnificent!!!
Breeding season is drawing to a close.  I've met some wonderful people who have bred to DC and Hottie!  I'm sounding like a "Cub Fan," I can't wait until next year's foal crop.  The babies just keep getting better and better!

April 2008

Spring is here, or at least on the calendar.  Our weather is warm then cool.  The babies are growing like weeds.  I am so pleased with this year's foals.  I think they are probably the best we've had!

Welcome to Justa Seductress and WD To A Sheik's foal.  A huge colored stud colt!  I was hoping for a red roan filly, but when this guy came out, I wasn't disappointed at all!  Here he is at only 5 hours old!

I continue to meet and become friends with some wonderful "horsey"  and "doggy" people!  I value their friendships as we share our lives!

March 2008

Welcome Jamaican Eclipse!  A beautiful buckskin colt out of Jamaican Hottie and QH Eclipes Gold.  This is my first baby from Hottie and I couldn't be more pleased.  Am excited to watch him grow!  What color he has!!!

I think I'm probably like everyone else...waiting anxiously for spring.  We seem to get a warm day to tease us, then a cold day to bring us back to reality!

Mattie Blue had her litter of pups...and what a beautiful bunch they are!  Such a mix of colors...red, black and gray pups.

Sting's baby, Sparky just continues to amaze me.  I compare his pictures to DC and he is even more striking!  I feel so blessed to have a colt as nice as he is!

February 2008

Rikka and LInk had their pups on the 28th!  3 males, 2 females.  I love the "little mole look!"  Mom and pups are doing great.  Rikka is a wonderful mom!  Spring is a time of birth and the fresh breath of life!

I have more fun with Martini!  Her favorite hiding place is under the sofa.  She is so tiny, she just fits under there!

Shesa Sting has foaled the most awesome bodied, colored foal I have ever seen!  "Sparky," as we are calling him came into the world on the 21st of February.  She was very kind to us, had the baby around 4:15 in the afternoon!  DC has stamped yet another one of his foals!  WOW!

This big guy was 41 inches!  I couldn't believe his coat pattern, so unique!  Sting is very proud of her new baby!!  (So am I~!)

What a great time of year it is...new life being born and taking on their own little personalities.

Martini enjoying chewing on her brush.  I don't think she likes it too much!  LOL!!!  So much fun dressing her up, this is her little Valentine's dress!

Had a wonderful visit with my friend, Mary Ellsworth and Ken!  We don't get to see each other too often, so it is so nice to be able to see them!  Matt was playing at "Timbucktu," so they got to hear him perform.  We spent most of our time in the barn talking horses while Ken scratch on the mares!

We are starting to blanket the show horses and turning on the lights.  Show season will be here before we know it!  I have two DC babies that I will be showing this year, DL Precisely Lolly and DL Beyond Precision.  Both are exceptional yearlings and will be a joy to watch them grow!

Our weather here has been very strange, as I hear it is in other places.  Colder, warmer, rain or snow.  We are never quite sure what will be blowing in.  As soon as the weather lets up, I will take Pebbles (Detail by Rockafella) down to Kent Allen Quarter Horses for him to start fitting on for the world shows.  She just keeps getting better and better!

I had Jamaican Hottie tested for the red/black gene.  Results were EE, he will not throw a red foal no matter what he is bred to.  He is homozygous for the black gene!  Hottie just keeps getting better and better!

Livasys Rika is due to have Siberian Husky puppies the end of this month.  These little puppies are just the cutest, sweetest things ever.  I've been so fortunate to place the pups in loving, caring homes!

We had a couple from Nebraska drive over to see Jamaican Hottie, Christine and Dale.  What wonderful people!  It is so great to find new horse friends!

I'm looking forward to next weekend also, Mary Ellsworth and Ken are coming down to give Rose, Annebelle, Ellie, and Hottie lots of hugs and kisses!  I bought all these wonderful horses from Mary.  She is my mentor and friend!  It's been a while since I have seen them both and am looking forward to their visit!

January 2008

What a wonderful year it is starting out to be!  On January 3, DC Precision received his AQHA papers!  After three long years, the dream is finally a reality!  I want to thank all the people that worked with me to get this done.  I've met such nice people along the way and shared many old horse stories.  DC certainly has an interesting past!
