2014

December, 2014

This month stared out as a sad one for our family.  After having Mark's dad pass away, the day before Thanksgiving, his mom passed on the 1st of December.  I guess when you have 2 people that love each other that much, they don't want to be apart.  We buried them together, as that is what they would have wanted.

Christmas shopping is all done, all the presents are wrapped. I am ready!  Charlie is growing up so fast!  He is just a blessing sent from heaven.

Christmas Eve was great~!  Mark's brother and his family came over.  It's always a good time~! Christmas was even better!  Josh, Matt, Charlie, Erin, Jake and my dad were with us~!!!

November, 2014

Lanoue Show Horses have taken Ivy and have started fitting on her to show her this month and next year.  I think they have her looking pretty good!  Ivy is out of Detail By Rockafella and DC Legacy.  She is registered with APHA and AQHA.

The AQHA World Show was this month.  I didn't get to go, but watched in through streaming video.  Lots of great horses!!!

We've had people come over to see stallions and mares.  It is always fun to meet new horse friends!

Thanksgiving was great~!  We had a smoked turkey and it was awesome!  Josh couldn't make it back home, the the other Matt and Rachael and Charlie....and Jake and Erin!

My husband's father passed away this month.  Ray Livasy was such a great man.  He had such a rich history with our city.  He will be missed by all of us, as he was such a special, special person.

October, 2014

October was a slow, easy month.  Mark took us to a Ameran function in St. Louis.  Matt and Charlie jointed us.  It was a really cold day, but we had a blast!

We loaded hay into the barns and just had a laid back month!

The horses enjoyed our continued nice weather.  Mares are starting to show their baby bumps.  Looking forward to seeing the new babies next year!

September, 2014

September started out great!  Matt and his wife celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary!  Our grandson, Charlie celebrated his 1st birthday....time has flown by this year.  I can't believe it's only been a year, since this wonderful little boy was born!  He had a wonderful party!  It was a delight to see Charlie play with the paper and ribbons (he didn't care about the gifts!) LOL!

Erin and I packed the trailer and loaded everything for Ivy (Dancing In the Night) and headed to Des Moines, Iowa for the Breeders Halter Futurity and The National Halter Championship!  We got in at 3:00 p.m., driving through torrential rains and wind, then Mark text'd us saying the doctor was admitting him to the hospital to be on an antibiotic IV, and no one was at home to take care of the animals.  We thought Mark had a stomach flu, but instead had diverticulitis. Luckily, he had just caught it, so his pain was not bad.  Erin and I left Ivy with Jamie and DeDe Lanoue and drove back home.  She ended up not showing because she was sore in the feet.  It will be taken care of with proper shoeing, but I was so let down!  I didn't get to see Go N Commando's class.  She placed 12th out of a tough pen of 20 late weanling fillies.  I was so impress with the job Jamie and DeDe did getting her fit in only 30 days.  She will be one heck of a show mare!!

I sent Ivy home with Jamie and DeDe Lanoue for the winter show season.  It's a lot warmer down in Texas than it is in Illinois!  We will wait and see if she is ready for the APHA World Show in November!

August, 2014

Izabella left with Claire and Tim at the beginning of this month.  I miss her knickers in the morning!  I am so excited to see her at the Breeders Halter Futurity in September!  We have had a very cool summer with temperatures below average.

Can you believe the way the babies are growing?  Look at that profile of Fearsomely?  PERFECTION!  Izabella was purchased by Claire and Tim Weatherby of Texas!  I couldn't be happier to have Izzy going to such a great show home.  They will show her at the Breeders Halter Futurity in September, then promote her at AQHA shows.  Go N Commando will be one great filly!!  The babies have taken weaning really good and so have the mothers!  No one went off their feed!

Pikachu is fitting is just great.  What a doll he is.  Below, he has shed most of his puppy hair.  The POM community calls it the puppy uglies, but he is still a doll~!

Mark and I drove to Chattanooga, TN to visit our oldest son, Joshua and his wonderful, amazing girlfriend, ~!  I have only drove through Chattanooga, and was pleasantly surprised of the awesome city it is!  We ate at some really good restaurants and the city is just beautiful.  There is a bridge that spans the Tennessee River.  It is only for people to walk across and below it is a huge park.

Josh and Amanda purchased a house and I can't believe the work they have done with it.  I am impressed to say the least!!!

One more month until Erin and Jake's wedding.  Everything has come together nicely, with little stress.  Looking forward to August!!

May, 2014

Beautiful weather!  Babies are growing, mares are all pregnant....life is good!  The horses are so happy to be outside and the flies haven't gotten bad yet.  Oz is enjoying the green grass, DC and Hottie can't decide if being outside is that great, LOL!  They want to go out, but then want to come in.

Photo: Frozen and his dam, Twentyfour Kt Honey. Honey is a multiple world champion mare and stands 16-1. His sire is Mr Ice Te and he is also 16-1. Frozen should be one tall boy and NN on the 5 panel tests! He is a little over 3 months in this photo~! Can't wait to get him home!!

Here are a few pictures of the babies.  If you go to our baby page and Fearsomely's page, you can see more!

Fearsomely is just AWESOME~!  I can't wait to see what his dam throws with Hez N Command~!  Go N Commando just keeps getting better and better!  So proud to have produced this hand made girl.  Hez N Command has just proven to be a great sire!!!  I knew he would!  Both these babies have huge behinds, which is my favorite part~!

On April 6, we went to see our grandson, Charlie, baptized!  I just love this little guy.  He is such a happy, happy little soul~!  After church, we all went out to eat and celebrate!

I wish Charlie was closer, but then again, St. Louis is only 2 hours away.  It could be a lot farther.

Dianne keep sending me pictures of FROZEN and I get more excited to see him
in person!  He is so balanced and big.  The future looks bright here at Double L Acres!

We had a wonderful Easter!  Charlie, his mommy and daddy drove up for the day!  It was also my birthday, so I had double joy!  We had a lovely brunch on Sunday and my birthday after that~!  I don't think Charlie knew what was going on, but as always, he was a happy baby!

March, 2014

Winter is still howling, but it's not stopping our babies from arriving!  On March 12, Roxie (Sheza Packin) and Fearles had a gorgeous colt!  Finn is perfect in every way!  After seeing this boy at birth, I have decided to keep him and add him to my line of breeding stallions!  I love his registered name, FEARSOMELY.  He tested negative for the five panel tests!

One week later, Pebbles (Detail By Rockafella) gave birth to a truly awesome filly (a month early)!  Her proud daddy is Hez N Command.  His first filly.  My jaw dropped open when I saw this baby girl~!  We named her Izzabella.  I had to come up with a name fitting for her and Oz's first filly......(drum roll, please) GO N COMMANDO~!

I also have been looking for a colored colt and when Wright Quarter Horses of Texas had this beautiful boy, I couldn't resist.  We welcomed FROZEN to Double L Acres.  Frozen is an AQHA Smokey Cream Stallion.  He will always produce color!  Buckskins, Palominos and Smokey Blacks!  So excited to have this boy in our barn!  Frozen tested negative for the 5 panel tests!

This was the month we got to pick up our darling little boy, Pikachu!  Pikachu is a Parti AKC Pomerian Male we plan on breeding with our little husky girl, Zuri for Pomsky pups!

January, February, 2014

Not a lot to say about this winter, except....STOP THE SNOW!!!  Our snow accumulation and freezing temps have been a constant.  The poor horses haven't been able to go out much because of the ice under the snow!

Besides the weather, breeding season has been good!  The four boys have kept me busy on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.  Sometimes I even collect on the off days...but I haven't heard anyone complaining!

All the beautiful Siberian Husky pups have gone home to their new families!  Three litters within a week of each other.  It is true what they say, females that are together, cycle together, LOL!  I did keep a very, very small husky, Zuri.  I also purchased a gorgeous sable and tan parti AKC Pomeranian male.  Next year at this time, we will be proud breeders of Pomskys!  They are the new designer dogs!  What the adult dogs look like are very small Siberian Huskies.  I'm looking forward to seeing the puppies, but you know me, I love babies!!!

I bred three of my mares the last week of February, so hoping for early January foals next year!  Phancy Phace and An Alluring Package is bred to DC Legacy.  SSF Thisgirlscool is bred to Hez N Command.

We don't have any foals coming until March 10, so I feel fortunate not having to run to the barn in the middle of the night in this weather!

Our grandson, Charlie, is growing like a weed.  Such a sweet happy little man!  Being a grandparent is so awesome!!!  He is almost 6 months in the photos below.  I can't help but smile every time I look at the pictures....he is such an happy, expressive child!  With my schedules, it is so difficult to get to St. Louis to see him.

Our wonderful customers are having such gorgeous foals out of our boys!!!  I love it when I am sent a beautiful picture of a newborn foal, it warms my heart!!!  We won't have our first baby until March 10 or around there, so I am pretty excited!
